This is a serious question but one most of us do not discuss.  For some it is a taboo topic, insulting.  For others, not something that crosses their mind.  For me, it is something I think and stress and wonder about but haven’t researched.  It is one of those things that I think about late at night, when I’m trying to fall asleep but a million thoughts are in my head.  But, thinking of something and actually discussing it or implementing it is two entirely different things.  Something I need to get on top of and figure out.  As a single mom I need to make sure my kids are not left in debt if I die, especially since they are both minors.  I’m not planning to die anytime soon, believe me, I want to see them go to college and go forth in the world and flourish.  But planning for the unexpected is important.  We have car insurance and health insurance.  Why do some look over life insurance?

If I passed away right now there will be more costs than just a funeral.  My income will cease to exist.  Things that my kids take for granted, like the bills I pay, their free education, me being their taxi-mom, paying for their sports, music lessons, etc.  Plus smaller expenses, like utilities, our pets, groceries, etc.  All of that will no longer be funded by my income.
