Simple Hacks For Busy Moms
Being busy means sometimes we have to bring something in the car to eat. Plan a meal by what we can toss in the microwave. Have the kids make their own breakfast or lunch. I don’t always have time to do everything. We might be driving around from 9am to 6pm with enrichment classes, field trips, sports events, etc. I work, homeschool, blog and am a single parent. So I love finding hacks to make my life run a little smoother.
Healthy Faster Food
Red’s Natural Foods has burritos in a few delicious flavors and burritos in a bowl plus taquitos. I like that they have no artificial ingredients and I can toss one in the microwave or oven to eat in while on the go. The meats have no antibiotics and the burritos have 12-17 grams of protein in each one.
Tan At Home.
Not everyone tans. Truthfully, I think real tanning (in the sun or a tanning booth) is horrible and not healthy. But Having people make gasping noises when I wear shorts isn’t something I enjoy either. I found not all tanning creams are created equal. This is definitely something you want to spend decent money on to get a high quality product. Trust me. Others will know. It is the difference of looking tan and looking like an Ooompa Loompa. I found Million Dollar Tan has great tanning mousse for a sunless tan all year long. It even comes with a mitt to apply it and lasts 7-10 days.
Cut Coupons, Cut Your Hair, Cut Out Fast Food….
Save money but SAVING money. I try to cut coupons or use Ibotta for after grocery store shopping. It is easy as taking photos of carrots or milk with my cell to save 50 cents to $1 on each one.
If my hair needs a minor trim- I cut it myself. Seriously. It isn’t that hard and saves a lot of money. Cheapest nearby place is $18 plus tip. That really adds up.
Cut out fast food. Plan ahead. If I know I’ll be gone most of the day I’ll bring food with us or plan to eat out and make sure I have coupons for the place. This saves a lot of money and I’m not stuck with hungry kids.

Don’t Buy Bottled Water!
Buying plastic bottles is HORRIBLE for the environment. You are using plastic and throwing it away. If you have unclean tap water at home buy a water filter system and start refilling reusable bottles to take to work or school. There is a million reasons to not buy plastic. Seriously. Research it. As for clean water, get a filter! If your fridge doesn’t have a built in system you can get a water system from ZeroWater. They come in a few sizes (I have a 10 cup pitcher and a 23 cup dispenser). They are EASY to use and can even reduce lead in water. Keep one on a shelf in the fridge to have clean, cold water any time. There is even a meter to test water quality and indicate when the filter needs to be changed. I’m giving one to my BFF for Christmas so that she stops using plastic bottles and throwing them away. If you buy 5-10 reusable bottles (we like Clean Canteens) you can fill them up and grab one on your way out the door. Have clean water all the time.
23 Cup Capacity. Biggest One On The Market. Great For A Whole Family. The 10 cup pitcher is great for smaller fridges (or really full fridges). I like to keep one on the coutertop too. My daughter has sensitive teeth and doesn’t like cold drinks so room temperature is perfect for her.
Plan Ahead For Parties!
If you are going to a birthday party plan ahead. Find things on sale or clearance and stock up on them. Just random things that are cheap. Lotion. Candles. Board games. That way if you are invited to a party you aren’t stuck running out to buy a $20-30 gift at the last minute. I do this for Christmas too. I stockpile all year and by the time Christmas rolls around I have 95% of my shopping complete.
If you know you have a potluck coming up make sure you have a dish planned. That way you aren’t running to the grocery store at the last minute and paying full price. Making a dish a day ahead works if you are working all day too.
Tell me what Mommy Hacks You Use! Especially single moms. If they are good ones I’ll add them to the post!
