Santa’s got a new sleigh: Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
I love the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. It is a sporty SUV with lots of flare. This was the week of Christmas so we got to use the car for something extra special. Delivering Christmas presents to needy children.
Each year at Christmas I organize for a group I am in to select between 5-10 needy families and we gather gently used and new clothing and toys for them for Christmas. We have been doing this for 11 years now and as it has grown, it has changed too. In the beginning we got things for the whole family. As time went on it changed to children only. This year I had an epiphany that there were needy senior citizens out there that might not have any family and and might not get any presents for Christmas. So, with a little bit of searching and some help from a friend, we adopted a senior this year. This year’s total was 13 children, from 5 families, and one senior.
We Collect The Donations In My Garage Until Christmas
Toys, books, clothing, etc. all donated to us each year. It is such a blessing to help so many families every year.
The month or two before Christmas we pick applications, find out information about them (clothing size, favorite books, interests) and through our friends, family and random strangers we collect for all of them. All of this is on Facebook and by word of mouth. About a week before Christmas people that want to help volunteer come over and we sort everything and then wrap everything. This takes a few hours but we want to make sure every person has enough.
We sort by child, wrap then get everything sorted by family for delivering. One girl asked for an alarm clock and a friend saw the list of items we needed and dropped one off at my house. The senior asked for lotions and shower gels and some slippers. We try to get things that will be used and appreciated for each person.
It All Fit In The Car!
A few days before Christmas we load everything up for delivery. This year I was super fortunate to get a 2016 Outlander Sport by Mitsubishi for the week and I used it to deliver all the presents. This car is amazing! It is a 4 door SUV with speed, great control, even in the rain, 4WD and decent gas mileage. The back seat doesn’t have a ton of legroom for tall people but it was comfortable.

Delivery To Three Families
We delivered over a few days, depending on when everyone could be home. This car load was to three families. The front fit four of us (car holds five passengers) and we had all the presents wrapped and ready in the back. I like how all the presents fit so nicely!
So, with help of old and new friends and this Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, we made a few families a little happier this holiday season. I felt safe driving around my city and we even took the car to Los Angeles, in the rain, to The Broad Museum. It handled nicely weaving in and out of traffic and was easy to park in the crowded streets and parking garages. The Rally Red color made it super easy to spot too.
I loved doing out ‘Adopt-A-Family’ program and am so thankful Mitsubishi was there to help.
As for the families we delivered to: They were blessed in many ways and hopefully will pay it forward next year.
The even got to see a 6″ elf!

This is such a wonderful idea. There are many seniors out there who either don’t have family or their family does not visit them. This SUV is awesome. I would love a new vehicle one day. I will have to check this out. Keep up the good work. God Bless

I’m so glad you were able to bless a family this year! Helping families during the holiday season has been a true joy to my own family.

This is a wonderful way to celebrate the meaning of Christmas and to teach children the importance of helping others.

That is a gorgeous car! I love how much can be pack into it. I think it is so cool that you gather/organize donations for Christmas. I love that you have added a spot for an older person as well. I often think about all the elderly in our area, and how there does not seem to be a lot of support for them. I love that you are doing something for them too.
