This was a fabulous cake I made for my SIL’s birthday.  I got the recipe from a friend but it required Guinness beer, which I didn’t have.  So I adapted it a tad.  I also used an awesome springform pan that has a splitter to make it where one batter has different variations or different toppings. 
Here is my new Frieling Zenker 3-in-1 Springform Pan.  It is a 10″ non-stick pan.  I made the batter (recipe printable below) and poured it in to three sections.  One section was the regular batter.  One I added crushed walnuts and one I added chocolate chips.
