Inspiring Greatness: The Road To Championships
It’s been a long road to championships but we made it. For nine years my daughter has been competing in track and field and this year was the first time she qualified to go to the Co-Conference Championship in Santa Barbara. Last year she qualified too, but the meet, for the first time, was a local one. Getting her to Santa Barbara safely was a priority so I asked the awesome people at DriveShop about a car. They agreed and delivered a sporty Mazda CX-5 for me to drive for the week. I was happy to have a brand new car to test out and knowing we’d have a safe and reliable car for the trip was a relief. We made it there in about 2 hours and home in about 1 1/2. Even with beach traffic we made good timing and were comfortable. The GPS helped us get there and even re-routed us to detour around an accident.
Soul Red Metallic 2016 Mazda CX-5
The Mazda CX-5 has four doors and a very roomy hatch in the back to store track gear, our stadium seats, ice chest and more. The back seats folded down for more room too. A Drive For Good giving card was given to me by Mazda and I picked a non-profit to donate it to on you Facebook Fan Page by letting my fans post their favorite charities and me picking one. I love the eco-sport option while driving. I can choose to be more fuel efficient or to have a car the can speed a little more and get through the lanes. The radio, gps and bluetooth have buttons on the steering column and also a cool knob to jump through the channels and options while driving. I’m all smiles with this awesome car! It gets 26 city and 33 highway MPG and has 5 Star ratings for side crashes in both front and rear seats. and four Stars for rollover. No one wants to be in a car accident but it is reassuring knowing the car is made well and is sturdy to withhold the impact. This car, with all the optional equipment, has an MSRP of $33,185.
Kids even fit in the back!
No, I did not drive with them here. But since the interior is dark it is hard to see just how roomy it is inside. Both kids fit with extra room in the back. With two growing teens that means there is plenty of room in the back for my weekly grocery shopping, sports backs, musical instruments, backpacks and more.
The Mazda CX-5 looks sporty, like an economy car. But climb in and there is so much room. The front and back seats have plenty of leg room and it was easy to parallel park when we were at the beach for our post-season picnic.

Co-Conference Championships at Santa Barbara Community College. Gorgeous campus with the beach right behind us. Perfect weather for the beach made parking crazy but we did it!
This is the first red car I’ve ever driven and I’m hooked! I’m sure a lot of it is how comfortable and fun the Mazda CZ-5 is too. It was hard work and dedication for my daughter to get to the Road To Championships and a blessing to have the Mazda to get us there.
