Homemade Coffee Play Dough

Play dough is fun for children to play with and is great of hand-eye coordination as well as pretend play.  It is great with Play dough toys and tools to make molds and custom shapes or kids can use cookie cutters and other objects found in the house.  This is a easy-to-make recipe for play dough that has used coffee grounds in it.  It is not for eating but smells great and is a different texture than regular play dough.  When stored in an airtight container it can last a few months.

The recipe is printable and you can use any type of used coffee grounds. If you don’t drink coffee you can still get coffee grounds.  Most coffee houses will give you some for free (coffee grounds are great for gardens too).  I got some that came from espresso beans at Starbucks.  I’m not sure if it matters what type of beans you have for this recipe but you can play around and try different types.  Play dough is good for sensory, touch, OT, and just hands-on fun.   Kids can even help make it, using math skills for measurements and you can have them help read the recipe.
