Get High Schoolers Prepared With PSAT & SAT This Summer
With two kids in high school the PSAT and SAT have been a topic of discussion the last few years. Generally the PSAT is taken in 11th grade (P meaning preliminary-SAT, like a practice one but for the schools) and the SAT in 12th grade. These test scores will go to colleges the children might want to attend. You can also select for other colleges to have access to the results. This way they might find you and ask you to attend. The tests aren’t something to be taken lightly if kids want to get in a good 4-year college. Both of my kids will be college-bound soon.

Summer is here and it is the perfect time to get some studying in. It is a great way to prevent the summer slide. I touched base with our local Huntington Learning Center to get some information on the tests and the other services they offer. I had a great time talking to Dalia on the phone and we made an appointment for my daughter to come in.
We found the Huntington Learning Center easily, even though I’d never been there. The signs were big and on all sides of the building.
Outside is a gorgeous courtyard with a fountain. If you don’t live nearby (or hate LA traffic) you have lots of choices of eateries and stores to explore while your child is testing.

We enjoyed the layout and design of the center. My daughter felt at-ease with everyone there and while testing. It was spacious and airy too. After the testing was done the center had us do a follow-up to go over the results and help us know the test strengths and weaknesses and how to improve the scores for the real tests.
Most kids have cell phones now-a-days. It is standard procedure to have a cell phone center on the wall. That way kids will not be distracted by text, calls or alerts on their phone. Phones will be waiting for them once the tutoring or testing is completed.
