December Family Game Night
Christmas break means a lot of kids are off from school for 2-3 weeks and have a lot more down time. No school. Fewer sports. In some households this means kids fighting more, on too much multimedia and are bored. Especially in areas with lots of snow and rain. Creating a routine for these slower weeks is a great way to keep the kids active. Find an online workout video to do together. Bake cookies to deliver to neighbors. Decorate for Christmas. Get some extra reading in. Plus schedule some family time. If you work this might been in the evenings. Whether you have a family game night each day or each week it is what works with your schedule. With winning Moves Games.
Check out this super duper awesome list of games to play. These are just a drop in the bucket of all games Winning Moves Games has available.
Hands-On Games
These games are great for fun and giggles.
Don’t Get Bit! Crocodile Dentist is a classic for ages 4+. There are no loose pieces in the game so there is nothing to get lost. It is easy to play and there can be 1-4 players.
Pass the Pigs. This is my first time hearing about this game but it looked fun. This game has two big pigs (rubber squish things) and the object of the game is to ‘roll’ them and get points. The value of the points changes depending on how your pigs land. These can be played at home or at the park.
Connect 4: Twist & Turn. I LOVE this game. I’m a fan of the classic Connect 4 and every time a new version comes out my family gets it. This one has a new twist (pun intended) and is a great travel game.
Dice and Cards
Upwords is a word game but the letters can be stacked on top of each other to create a new word. Add an S. Change Change one letter to make a whole new word. Stack them high and score. This game is age 10+ but would also depend on reading level. It is a family game and can be played as a team with a younger kid too.

Water Works. I remember this game when I was little, or something similar. It is a easy game to learn but hard to master. The game has cards and metal wrenches and the goal is to complete a pipeline from valve to spout while your opponents try to play leaky pipe cards against you. 2-4 players. Average game is 45 minutes.
Super Big Boggle. Just like regular Boggle just BIGGER. This is a super-sized grid with six letters across and six down. You now have 36 cubes and 4 minutes to play. There is also a special ‘bonus letter’ that counts as a double and three blanks. This family fun game is 2+ players and fun for the family to play together.
Special Rubik’s Cubes
These two are extra special Rubik’s Cubes. The first is a Rubik’s Junior Bear. It actually twists and turns for a 3×3 challenged. It is easier to solve than a regular Rubix Cube and super cute.
The second one is a mini-Rubik’s Cube. it is a keychain version and it really works. With over 43 quintillion combinations you might not solve it once you start playing with it but good luck.
Both are perfect for Christmas stocking stuffers too.
