Mother’s Day & Father’s Day Gift Guide

This year around for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day it is going to be a hard year.  My mom passed away in March so even dealing with Mother’s Day is going to be hard.  On top of that my grandma died last July.  I know it is a holiday for me too, since I am a mom.  But there is still a lot of healing and grieving that will need to be done.  I’ll still be celebrating, with my children and my friends that are moms.  Plus for Father’s Day I have my dad, stepdad and the kids get a gift for their dad.  This gift guide might be a little different.  Bear with me as I think out loud and type this as it forms in my head.  I have a few product ideas that I received for product reviews for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.  Sadly, the Mother’s Day ones can no longer be gifted to my mom.  I’ll make sure they are still passed on to someone deserving.  Especially someone like a single mom, doing double duty.   Some of the products have a link to their website, others to where they can be bought on Amazon.  Feel free to comment and share.  Hopefully you’ll find some good gift ideas for the loved ones in your family.

 

Men’s bath, body and skin care products are a great gift that is useful for most men! I found this company, Duke Cannon Supply Co, and am so impressed with all of their products.They donate a percentage of all sales to military causes, so that is an added bonus! The first is a 4 pack of bards of soap.  Vintage-looking sleeves on them.  I thought they’d be great since my son is trying to decide on a service to enlist in so I thought he’d like these soaps.

This set is ‘The Shower Beer Sack.’  It includes soap, beard wash, hot shave, hair wash, after-shave balm and this awesome burlap sack.  No need for a gift bag.

 

Really cute cards by A Jar of Pickles (love their name too).  They have all sorts of fun, cute, foodie, etc cards for all occasions.  You can choose Thank You, Birthday and other specific occasions.  I chose three boxes.  Greeting CarBs pictured below, Edible Thank You’s and Animal Birthdays.  All of them come in a pack of six cards and envelopes and are blank inside.  Besides giving them to someone, like my dad, I love mailing cards to friends and family.  I think ‘snail mail’ is a lost art.  Hopefully gifting some cute cards can encourage others to write a friend.

Have a runner in your family?  I have three!  They’ll be fighting over these.  But I reserved them for my dad for Father’s Day.  He has been doing 5 and 10k’s for decades (used to run marathons too).  He oftens runs in the evening with friends so the light up LED Headwear is perfect for when the sun has set but they are still on the trail.  The SPI belt is great too.  It holds a cell phone (and has a window to see it, switch songs, etc) has a small zippered compartment and is adjustable for most waist sizes.

Besides drinking these can be used for cooking and baking!  I love baking fresh salmon and pouring beer on it in the last 10 minutes of cooking.  I used the Citrus Whimsy for this and it tasted great and was super moist.  I don’t know a ton about beers so I asked for the ‘mixed gift set’ and this is what they sent me.  I’m planning on making a cake with one next.  I’ll post the recipe when it is done.
