DYI- Nailed It! Single Mom Edition!

Getting things done isn’t always fun, especially when it is DYI jobs, especially for a single mom.  There are a lot of jobs I do not want to do but I do them since they need to get done and I want to save money.  Paying someone every time something is broken to come over here and help isn’t in my budget.  So the easier jobs I get done myself.  If I can’t I try to barter or trade.  I even see if it is a job my dad can help me with.  Last result if paying full price to call someone in.

Can’t Make This Shit Up!

Most of the plumbing problems in the house are caused by my son.  Too much toilet paper and the toilet is clogged.  Action figure dropped into the toilet.  Overfilled the tub.  Just this week he backed up my bathroom sink.  He went to the grocery store with me and he asked if he could get some Pillsbury cinnamon rolls (the type where you open the container, put the rolls on a cookie sheet, bake them and then add icing on top).  I said yes, but they would have to be for after dinner.  We finish.  Go home and unload.  Few hours later I take my daughter to her track practice.  We come home and see evidence that not only did he bake the cinnamon rolls but he age 7 out of 8 of them.  He got sick from so much and puked in my bathroom sink (I didn’t know about this until much later).  I make dinner.  Kids eat.  I have someone stop by to look at my car (trying to sell it) and I’m chatting with them in the front yard for a while.  I go back in.  Make sure everything is put away from dinner and dishes are done.  Work on my computer for a while.  Then, end of the evening I go into my bathroom and the sink is FULL of water.  (Insert screaming mom here).  Seems he ate all those cinnamon rolls, puked, ate dinner and then puked again.  All in my bathroom.  All in the sink.  He isn’t a little kid.  He’s almost 18!  He did nothing about cleaning it up either.  Was laying down, watching tv.
