Music passion is something to embrace.  I have two teens that have been playing instruments for years.  My son started about 6 years ago on violin.  He played that for about two years than switched to cello.  He was renting his cello from his teacher and decided he wanted to switch to base (upright, not the one like a guitar).  He found out he didn’t care for the base much so switched back to cello (the store let him return it).  He has also self-taught some guitar.  My daughter started about a year or two after him, on violin.  She still plays it and has taught herself the ukulele and owns two.  I love hearing them play, seeing them write their own songs and just watching their music passion grow and change as they grow older.

One aspiration of theirs is to compose for the movie and film industry like John Jesensky.  He is a gifted musician that spends his days either practicing several hours a day or working in different locations and sets.  He started at short film and has even ventured to podcasts.  Kids can read up and learn how John Ross Jesensky started young and has gone far.  Today’s generation loves podcasts, YouTube videos and getting out and going to the movies.  Bet they’d be surprised to see a lot of films with Jesensky’s music in them.  Humbling to him, bet not everyone pays attention to who made the music or the name of it.

To me, beautiful music is like a sunset.  They are amazing but each one is different.  When I hear moving music I appreciate it as it is, by the musician and piece, and enjoy each one separately.  I hope Jesensky is around a long time to offer positive influence and mentoring to young kids and teens aspiring to be as much as they can in any field they go in.
