Chocolate Covered Strawberry ‘Pumpkins’
Who doesn’t love chocolate covered strawberries, right? These were super easy to make and there was even a little room for error. Draw too big of a smile on the pumpkin? Make it a monster. I had too many strawberries (for how much melted chocolate I had) so I used some blue chocolate to make some Chocolate Covered Monster Strawberries too. Great for having company over or family dessert. Get into Halloween together.

First- get a basket of strawberries. Wash them and pat dry. Make sure the strawberries are room temperature and.
Next grab your chocolate. I used Wilton’s Orange Candy Melts. You can buy them here—-> Wilton’s melts.
You can use a double boiler or melting pot but I used the microwave to melt them. We used candy eyes with long lashes (just something we liked). You can also find them with no lashes, mini-eyes, etc.
Put in microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. Put in 20 seconds. Stir. If it is completely smooth without chunks it is ready. If it needs more, do in 20 second increments and stir each time.
I didn’t take photos of dipping, was too busy, but I grabbed the strawberries by the stem, dipped them in the orange chocolate and put them on a wax paper covered cookie sheet. If you are using candy eyes attach immediately! I found this out the hard way. They are hard to attach once the chocolate has firmed up.

Let strawberries sit 10-15 minutes.
Draw on chocolate covered strawberries with black food dye and a paint brush.
Get black food dye here. You can use the black food tye to paint faces without the eyes too. Get creative and have fun. Let the kids help too. If you mess one up you can always eat it and just move on to the next one.
Refrigerate after decorating. Strawberries will last 2-3 days in the fridge.
You can get creative and make other chocolate covered treats, like the monsters here. We tried grapes too and they were really cute.
You can also check out our recipe for Banana Mummies. We used the same Wilton’s Melts (but in white) and the same candy eyes.
