Total prep time is very short. Kids can help mix, measure, cut (if they are old enough) and drizzle. Adding the eyes is super cute and all there is to these mummies. You can get creative and buy different types of eyes too. I used cute eyes with lashes. Wilton also has other candy eyes you can buy. Scroll to the bottom to print this recipe.
So Cute & Yummy To Eat Banana Mummy!
First cut off ends and slice bananas in 1/2 then peel.
Spoon melted white chocolate into ziplock bag and seal.
Twist the bag to get the white chocolate in the corner then nip off a small bit of the corner with scissors. Place the bananas flat-side-down onto wax paper. Drizzle the white chocolate back and forth, over the bananas.
While the chocolate is still wet add the candy eyes.
Be careful adding the eyes. They are candy and they do smear. I found this out on accident.
Let sit about 15 minutes for white chocolate to firm up and harden.
You can eat immediately or refrigerate. In my opinion, they taste better cold so that the bananas aren’t mushy or too soft.
Yummy Banana Mummies.
Ingredients:
3 Bananas. They can be green or a little ripe. Not too mushy. Make sure they are room temperature.
Wilton’s White chocolate. (Buy here).
Wilton’s candy eyes (Buy here).
Instructions:
Prep the bananas before heating up the chocolate so the chocolate does not cool off too much.
Put out a cookie sheet with a piece of wax paper across the top.
Cut *unpeeled* bananas. First cut off the two ends. Then cut in 1/2.
Turn bananas upright and slice down the middle. This will give you a smooth cut without the bananas getting squishy.
remove peel and place flat side down on wax paper.
To make heat up chocolate until it is smooth and melted. You can do this in a double boiler or slowly in the microwave. I used the microwave.
Put about 6 ozs (1/2 the bag) of the Wilton’s white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl on high for 1 minute. Stir. Put in for 30 seconds. Stir. If it needs to be heated up a little more, do it in 15-20 minute increments until the chocolate is completely smooth (no lumps) and melted.
Put white chocolate in Ziplock bag, squeeze air out and seal.
With scissors cut off the tip of the bag (smaller the better).
Squeeze the white chocolate in a back-forth drizzle across the bananas.
Before the white chocolate dries add candy eyes.
Let white chocolate cool until firm and serve.
