7 Ways To Make The Most Out Of A Tiny Bathroom
Having a small bathroom isn’t always the easiest, especially when it is shared. This could be a small house, a dorm, a cabin, etc. Regardless, making the most out of a tiny bathroom isn’t always easy. I hate clutter and do not like bottles behind my toilet. Just my thing. I don’t want to worry about them falling in and don’t want toilet spray from flushing to get on them. My bathroom is actually small, and not totally tiny, but the shower doesn’t leave much room at all. Definitely hard to shave my legs in there. I also have use the small space in the best way I can. Here are some tips and tricks I’ve figured out over the years (lived in this house over 20 years now) to not have my bathroom cluttered (which overwhelms me) but have everything I still need.
1- Bamboo Shower Seat by ToiletTree Products. I love this. I can sit on it to shave my legs. I used to sit at the bottom of my shower (yeah, like a pretzel) but since I hurt my knee I can’t twist and bend to get back up from that small space, so have been trying to bend over to shave. That doesn’t work well and I get light headed. Not fun, right? So I tried this out for the first time. I love it. It is also small and does not take up a lot of room. It took two times to put it together correctly but I got it done. After each shower it is recommended to wipe it off to reduce the chances of mildew or mold. A vinegar/water spray can be used on it too.
2- If you are in a shared shower, like a dorm this Shower Sidekick from Catidea works great. You can’t sit on it but it leans against the wall and is great to put one foot on to elevate the leg to shower. It also folds for a compact way to carry and store it. It is practical and sanitary and I love how creative it is. This is also good for people with back problems that don’t want to bend over all the way. It even has a small shelf to hold a razor or soap while in use.
3- Get a low-to-the-ground bathroom scale. Ozeri has a glass digital bathroom scale that has everything I want. I love that mine can fit in the corner and the door will open over it. It will also keep track of weight gain/loss for up to 5 users and will tell me my BMI.
4- Get a caddy for in the shower. This one attaches to the shower head and has the room for a few bottles, razor and washcloth. I like that so much can fit on it. Great for showers that don’t have built-in shelves or have lots of people that use the same shower.
5- Behind the toilet storage space. If you don’t have much storage space in a medicine cabinet or under the sink this is a great way to add a few more shelves. Most have 2-3 shelves and come in metal, glass and wood. There are many choices to match your bathroom decor.
6- A skinny cart is great between the toilet and sink or sink and wall if you need some drawers. I like that this one has two side baskets but I’ve seen them without the baskets so they fit between the wall and sink. Make sure you measure first, before ordering one, so you know you have enough room.
7-Upright toilet paper holder. I have one of these in both of my bathrooms. It is a great way to store about 5-6 rolls of toilet paper (the rest I keep in a cabinet in the garage). It fits on the side of the toilet, almost behind it, and is only $13 on Amazon right now (with free shipping). There are lots of different types to choose from (wood, more decorative, painted) but I prefer a simple one that is out of the way.

If you have a small bathroom you sometimes have to get creative to fit everything inside of it. I have tall containers (like hair spray) on top of my medicine cabinet, extra toilet paper in the garage, extra bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the hall closet. I like to keep things clean and tidy and sometimes decluttering and getting rid of products I tried and didn’t like (but for some reason still kept) is a great way to purge and make more space too.
Added great idea for bathrooms is the Tub Shroom! Funny name but it is a great way to catch hair in the shower or bathtub to avoid clogged drains. It comes in five colors and works to catch human and animal hair.
