I love living in California.  We have so much that is within an hour or two of driving.  Los Angeles and all of its glory and wonder, the beach, the snow, Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm.  On top of that our fantastic weather means shorts and flip-flops most of the year.  We have farmer’s markets within a few miles and a normal concern is making sure I have enough sunscreen so I don’t get burnt.  A part of loving California is knowing the Los Angeles Emergency Management Department (LA EMD) is readily available for disaster preparedness.  We are privileged to feel safe from disaster but should know the LA EMD have our back for emergencies.

Being ready for emergencies can mean having supply kits, being informed about new viruses, natural disasters and more.

We live in an area that people from around the world flock to see. From the Hollywood Sign to Muscle Beach we live in a place with sunshine and palm trees, envied by many.  We know there are natural disasters but doesn’t mean we can’t prepared and enjoy our days.  It is always good to have emergency kits, bottled water and household plans.  We know this but wouldn’t choose anywhere else in the world to live.  Ready LA is available to keep us up to to date.  Just for Los Angelinos to find information about the City of Angels that we all love.

 It doesn’t have to be difficult to be prepared and put together a preparedness kit.   A lot of items that would be used in the kit are everyday items lying around the house.  Foods with a long shelf life, items that are edible without cooking, enough clean water for everyone in the household, an updated first aid kit.
