This year is a little more back to normal with one exception. I have one child away for college (12 hour drive) and one that will be going in the fall. So it really changes the way of thinking when it comes to gift buying. Makes it a lot harder too. More gifts are outside the box, gift cards, practical gifts or small ones that can fit in airplane carry on luggage or I can mail. I also have to not get something that is ‘just cute’ since it will be taking up space in a dorm. For everyone else in the family it is normal shopping/gifts except that everyone is growing up. I have some kids to buy for still, but most are now in the teen group. I’m at the point where some friends even have grandkids. So, maybe in 5-10 years that’ll be my next group to shop for. In the meanwhile, I hope you enjoy my gift guide with ideas for family and friends for gifts for this holiday season. Happy Holidays to all of you.
If you want fun and healthy you can grab a bag of Wonderful Halos. Not only are they perfect for Christmas breakfast, you can also put some in a stocking or do a cute art project with them, like this Halos snow person. It was easy to make and is now a fun decoration. Wonderful Halos are a great source of vitamin C, a delicious snack and when the kids are back in school they are easy to add to a lunch box.
I have students asking me for snacks in my class daily and I started bringing Wonderful Halos to my classroom and they have been a great hit. When I forgot to put out the basket I had students asking me if I still had any. I’ll be doing this all year long!
I also brought these Kool Aid and Mentos puzzles by YWOW Games to my class. They are not something that I allow out frequently but the students built them the day before Thanksgiving break, the day before winter break and a few students as to play with them at lunch and bring them back to me afterwards. They are a great alternative to students being on their cell phones and they are engaging and fun. They were doing them in by themself or in groups of two and as they finished trading with others. It was great to see them so engaged.
I sent a bouquet of flowers to my grandma. She is in a nursing home and has a small room of her own but not much space for a lot of knickknacks. I was able to have them delivered by a local florist to the front desk and ordered them online from Teleflora.com. Not only do they have Christmas flowers, they also have them for all holidays, including anniversaries and birthdays. They should arrive in a few days and will be fresh and beautiful.
For all the littles in my family my go to is TY Beanie Babies. I just love how adorable they are, super cuddly and they have big ‘love me’ eyes and soft fur. In this group is Max the dog (rainbow dog), 100% of profits go to NEXT For Autism, Brie (small white mouse), Slush (large huskie) is extra special. It comes flat so is easy for shipping and once you open it it poofs up and becomes full-sized, and Howlidays (the Christmas dog). All of them are great bedside companions too.

Don’t forget the stocking stuffers. Lip balm is a favorite, especially in winter. Chocolate is popular. So is Starbucks gift cards.
