Here are some top toys for 2018. Fun, amazing, educational, some are even cuddly. I’m going to try to break them down in sections by age but some might overlap. Most of these are new to the market, newer versions or hot selling toys right now. Great for birthdays and Christmas gift ideas.
Infant-baby:
I think baby toys can be totally simple and can be enjoyed. Babies need soft objects, and colors like black, red, gray and white and good contracts. This teether Blanket is multi-purpose. It is a security blanket, a pacifier can be attached to it, it is a teether and it is a cute bunny with a beanbag head. BooginHead also has clips for blankets, sippy cups and pacifiers as well as teether bibs.
Toddler-Preschool:
HUGS by Fingerlings. This cute monkey is named Bella and reacts to sound, touch and motion. You can play with her or cuddle and hug her. She makes over 40 sounds. Swing her, toss her, tickle her, record with her and more. Ages 2+

Primo Tringle Crayons are great for kids learning to grasp or having difficulty grasping traditionally shaped writing utensils. I love that they are also made of 100% pure beeswax and are non-toxic. A 12-pack of them is only $12.99 on Amazon.

Cars zoom down, sideways and around. Even cool to play in the dark since it lights up. No worrying about cars falling off the track since they are inside the tubes. Ages 5+

Botley is an amazing toy by Learning Resources. It is a coding robot with 77 activities. It is ready to go, right out of the box, with no assembly required. It pairs hands-on, 100% screen-free coding with advanced features, including object detection and black line following. It is easy to get started but challenging enough to grow coding skills with it. Plus it is super cute. It comes with Botley, of course, the remote programmer, detachable robot arms, 40 coding cards, 6 double-sided tiles, 27 obstacle building pieces and a starter guide with coding challenges. Ages 5+ but I think kids a lot older would love it too.
Kids that like to pretend to cook and have fun in the kitchen, or with a pretend kitchen, can have the best of both worlds with Creative Cafe. This Barista Bar makes REAL drinks (no heat required). Just add flavor, froth and design with stencils. The kit comes with strawberry and chocolate mixes and recipe cards for drinks like Neapolitan, Mock-iato and Strawberry swirl and has tips on how to make other creations. Kids will love this game, Jump In’ by Smart Games. It is an adorable game of fox and hare playing a bit of hide ‘n seek. Players use mushrooms and other rabbits to hide from the foxes. 60 challenges in all (easy to expert level). For ages 7+. Even adults can get in in the fun. It comes in a portable case so great for road trips too.
Tweens & Teens:
Get kids in the kitchen (and it is great to have them help with meals, or make them on their own for the family). I love this fun Pancake Art Kit by Whiskware. Make your own pancake mix (you can also make a dry mix to store for future pancake making) and have fun with the BlenderBottle and the pancake molds. This kit has an awesome pancake man and dinosaur. I also received an awesome unicorn one. The molds are heat resistant and dishwasher safe and easy to use. I love that it has pancake art bottles too (easier to pour without making a mess and the mixer ball helps mix up clumps). A win-win gift. The kids can cook and the adults can eat with them.
This is something kids of all ages can play with (but older kids might be better at it). Get kids into music with a digital keyboard. This one from Casio has 61 keys, 600 tones, 195 rhythms and more. I love how portable it is too. Bring it to family and friend’s houses to share in the fun. It even comes with a chord book and step lessons.
Getting ready for the holidays means crafty kids can get creative with these Craft Blocks from Hy-Lite. Put inside what every you want! Ribbons, bows, sand and shells, Christmas lights, money for a vacation fund.. the possibilities are only limited to the size. You can even put presents inside and wrap them up, instead of a gift bag. Each one is lightweight, acrylic and durable. The are clear so look pretty when filled with lights. I can’t wait to see what ideas are posted with these blocks for Halloween and Christmas.
