20 Minutes of Reading & More
It is recommended children read 20 minutes a day, or more. It is good for their vocabulary, for language comprehension and as an escape from the real world in ways to explore without leaving the room. With cell phones it seems there is less free reading time. I even notice I read less frequently. While waiting somewhere, like a doctor appointment, it is easier to browse on my phone than to carry along a book. Sometimes it is all about the book too. Having new books to read and really sink into is important. Here is a list of some brand new released books to check out! If they are available on Amazon you can click on the picture of the book to go directly there.
Balancing the Equation. A guide to school mathematics for educators and parents. by Matthew R. Larson & Timothy D. Kanold.
This 120 page book is something I thought would be a good read for homeschooling parents and teachers. It explains the history of math, critical reasons for learning math, common core debate and how to help children improve in math. It is only $1 difference between the Kindle and paperback version. So if you like to yellow highlight or take notes as you read get the paperback.
Ada’s Ideas. The story of Ada Lovelace, the World’s First Computer Programmer. By Fiona Robinson.
I love finding books for children on women. This one is no exception. Many have never heard of Ada Lovelace but now you can learn too about the daughter of a infamous poet and mathematician. Learn about the algorithm she invented over 100 years before computers were invented! This is a great for STEM classrooms.

CityBlock. by Christopher Franceschelli.
Perfect for toddlers. Explore a city with all different modes of transportation. Check out things to see, eat and do in the city. 96 colorful pages. Thick pages great for little hands. Some pages have sections cut out or windows as a sneak peek to the next page. Book says ages 3-5 but I think younger, reading with a parent, would be more appropriate.

This book is great for a classroom or at home art fun. I think I’m going to use it as a part of homeschooling to have some creative time that has a bit of direction and instructions but open to possibilities. I love the details, photos for each project. Book is ages 6+ but some might be for older kids, or need adult assistance.
