10 Ways To Keep The Family Active This Summer
It is still summer for another month here. Kids are getting bored of the routine. I’m guessing a lot of other families are in the same rut. Here are some fantastic ideas I found to get the kids off the internet and get them outside, exploring and have fun while doing it. While inside they can do the same. Games, crafts, art and more that can be done in the evenings.
1-Explore your city and neighborhood. Get a map and find park you’ve never been to. Find local museums in your city. Discovery community events, like concerts in the park or events hosted at your public library.
2-Find art. Take art classes. Search out street murals. Search Pinterest for art projects you can do at home. You can even make a theme out of it.
We made paper pizzas, played the I Am A Pizza song from Charlotte Diamond and ordered pizza for dinner. It was a fun day. The kids even used their pizza placemats to eat on. We cut the toppings first and the kids painted paper plates with red paint and let them dry.
Next the kids used a glue stick to add the toppings. It was an easy craft and so much fun. They were able to keep the plates and placemats for future meals.
Keep The Family Physically & Mentally Active
4-Get active. Get on a bike, in a kayak, take a hike. Do it with the family together. You can even go to the beach and rent tandem bikes or the 4-person pedal cars. We rented a pedal boat when we were at in Ventura and took it around the harbor.

They can use a kit like this to make scrapbook pages, include photos and send them in the mail. LOL Surprise Activity Bag has everything in it for kids to do all of this.
6-Do some new art and crafts at home. You can order some kits online and have fun together. Jiggle Digs are squishy balls that you dig into and find things inside. Unicorns with wands, etc. The Discovery Prehistoric Slimygloop Dig is similar but has dinosaurs inside. It comes with two models a nd the slime tarpit. 7- Do other fun crafts, like make your own water bottle with STMT kit and Paint Your Own Unicorn & Friends ceramic figures. Kids can keep them after they are made too.
8- Visit a local farm or friends that have livestock. Teach your kids about them, their natural habitats, best pets for your household, how to take care of them. If you really like them you can think about joining 4H or take care of their pets when they are out of town.
9-Make fitness goals and challenge each other. Top each other in sit-ups, races around the block. Play Pokemon Go or the newer Wizards Unite to get the family walking together.
10-Go to the beach at low tide and check out the tide pools. Get some books and learn about the birds in your neighborhood. Find the zone your yard is in and plant some vegetables. Plant a butterfly-friendly garden.
There is so much to do without spending a lot of money. It is better to make memories than have the kids on the internet or tv . I love learning and having fun while doing it. Making learning fun is a great way to mix education and summer fun.
