5 Ways To Unplug And Relax On A Staycation

Spring break is just around the corner and if you have no plans for taking a vacation but want to have a relaxing Staycation than check out these tips to help you unwind, unplug and enjoy the time at home with your family.  This is especially great for teachers and stay-at-home or work-at-home moms that are doing a little less ‘taxi-mom-driving’ for the week.  Making sure you have some ‘me time’ is important and having some time to recharge your batteries and have some down time.  Here are some ideas for you and your family if you are staying home during this holiday week, or any vacation time so that your staycation isn’t spent on Facebook or catching up on cleaning the house.

1- Go to your local library or bookstore and check out or purchase a few books for everyone.  Have a family reading time every day (this is good for a non-staycation day too).  If you want some quiet time that slip into the backyard and relax on this amazing Abba Zero Gravity Chair.  Grab a book, your favorite drink and tilt the chair back as much as you want.  You can ever take a nap outside.  If you are afraid of getting too much sun you can move the sunshade over your face.  (This chair is great for camping and RV-ing too as well as movies in the park.

2- Find some restaurants in your area that you have never been to.  Maybe sample a cuisine you have never tried.  I saw signs for a local Cuban and I’m trying to find time to try it out.  I’ve never had Cuban food before.  A few weeks ago we tried out a Korean Barbecue.  It was my first time having Korean food.  Luckily a friend was with us that knew what to do (ordering the meat, sides to ask for that they don’t bring unless you ask, how to cook the meat, etc).  It is a great way to introduce kids to other cultures too.

3-Have a day-spa type of day.  Do some self-care that has been neglected for a while.  Whiten your teeth naturally with Oral Essentials, paint your nails, dye your hair, even try this awesome hydrating facial treatment (suppose to hydrate skin 117% BY CO2Lift.  I just got mine in the mail and planning on doing it over spring break, when I have a few hours to relax and try it out.  If you work in a conservative work place this week is your time to paint your nails wild colors, mixed colors and just have fun.  Same with your makeup.

co2lift4- Have a Karaoke singing contest.  Do it with your family.  Invite some friends over.  You can ever make it a barbecue or potluck.  Do it as 100% fun or have a contest.  You can get a wireless mike with all the features on Amazon for only $27 and have it in 2 days with Prime.

5- Do the small things you never have enough time for.  Go to the movies.  Relax by the side of a pool (or go swimming), take a nap, check out local museums and attractions.  If you have multiple kids try to have some special one-on-one time with them and have a parent-and-kid date.  Make sure this staycation at home is memorable for them too.

Perfect timing on these tips. We had to cancel our plans due to an injury so we will be looking for things to do locally. That chair looks comfy!

We decided this year to not go anywhere for Spring Break. We are just going to hang out here, visit a few local spots, unplug and just relax. Sometimes it’s more of a vacation when you don’t go anywhere.

These are all great ideas! We usually go away during spring break but this year our work and kids activity schedule will not allow it. So I am hoping to do a little staycation, I love these ideas!

Great ways to relax. I love going to local diners to enjoy time away from the hustle. I am a huge fan of mom & Pop businesses.

Thanks for the tips and inspiration. For us it is really difficult to unplug as we are caregivers to the elderly in the family. Still hoping for a real vacation.

Yes! I love taking in a read in my zero-gravity chair on my deck. We like to visit local places we haven’t been to before when we are on a staycation.
