3 Tools You Need To Clean Faster
If you are like me, than you often want a clean house but don’t always have time to do it. The cliche ‘there is never enough time in the day’ is true, especially when it comes to tasks we don’t want to do. To find ways to get cleaning done, easier, quicker and be more efficient is important for a busy lifestyle. For me, I like to get the hardest or most dreaded done first. That way everything else isn’t as bad. I also enlist the kids to help me. It is important they contribute to the family and household. Here are some tricks of mine on tools that are ‘must have’ to get your house clean faster. I like to make a list of everything I want done. It is always handwritten. Just the way I like to do it. You can type it, or have the list on your cell phone. Do it how you like it. I figure out which jobs I’m assigning to the kids too. As for mine- I like to cross them off as I do them. It is a nice sense of accomplishment.
Before you start, if you have a lot of dirty dishes this is the time to soak them in hot water. Don’t wash them yet. We’ll come back to that.
As you clean continue to rotate the laundry, putting a clean load in as each gets done. Make your bed and dump the clean laundry on it. Leave it there.
Break It Down To 1-2-3
- Less is better. I love the Nugeni Steva. It does a lot and is one appliance. It can be used an upright vacuum, steam cleaner, clean the drapes, hardwood floors or even the couch cushions. It is a complete cleaning system in so many ways, all in one unit. The steamers eliminate germs, bacteria, mold, mildew and even bed bugs, without harsh chemicals. It is lightweight too, easy to carry up stairs or to different rooms.
Save deep cleaning for when you have time, like winter break and summer vacation. Than you can do some of the easily ignored cleaning, like the curtains, baseboards, between the couch cushions, etc.
- Get a cleaning bucket. Put all your cleaners in spray bottles, keep them full and keep them in here. That way you aren’t having to fetch new cleaners as you clean different rooms. You can dust, clean the bathrooms, kitchen counter tops, etc all with one bucket. Make sure it is big enough to hold everything without being too heavy and has a handle. Adding rags to it is good too. If you are running low on a cleaner add it to your grocery list, ask Alexa to add it to your list or buy it in a larger size, like a 1-gallon concentrate, and fill up a spray bottle as needed.
3. Get some Magic Erasers. These things are so weird but work great. Not sure how. Get your walls in the hallways, bathroom or anywhere someone leans on the walls super clean fast. You can even buy the news ones that are 4x stronger.
Now all you have left, of major stuff, is laundry and dishes. Do the dishes. They should clean easily since they have been soaking. When they are done sweep the kitchen floor and put all the cleaning tools away. The house should be clean except for the laundry. I like to do the laundry in my room while watching tv. That way I can kill two birds with one stone. I can get the laundry done, not be totally bored and can catch up on shows I like. If any of the laundry belongs to the kids I make them come do it with me (alternative is they do it themselves 100%). They are teens so helping is a must. If they are helping, I’ll put on a show we will enjoy together. During this time we can chat and talk about our day too. Not the same thing as taking my kids out on a dinner date, but a nice way to talk in a low-key way while we are accomplishing something.
