Fine Dining At Sutter’s Mill in Simi Valley
If you live in or near Simi than you are probably familiar with most of the restaurants we have. Broken down to fast food, quick-to-go, sit down casual and fine dining. Sutter’s Mill can be in the last two. You can dress casual and be comfortable yet the food is high quality that comes with phenomenal service. You can go for lunch or dinner or to hang out at the bar with friends. The atmosphere inside is a little old fashioned with hanging lamps, country western decor and the low-light feeling of a fancy dinner. Great to bring the family or a first date. It is located on the east end of Simi, on Cochran and Tapo. It is definitely a hidden gem. Sutter’s Mill started in the San Fernando Valley in 1958, made it’s way to Santa Clarita and migrated a new location in Simi in 2007. Owners and staff are a part of the Simi community and eating here is supporting a family business.
I brought my kids here for lunch and was happy to say they enjoyed it and can’t wait to go back. It was their first time here since they were little kids. Waiting for the food we discussed the time era of the decor and how it was all new yet gave off of a vibe of a southern home or country restaurant you’d see in the south. Booths had taller partitions which we liked for privacy. Plus the etched glass is pretty. For an appetizer we ordered the garlic toast. It came nicely plated and the kids started to devour it before I could take pictures. They definitely liked the garlic toast. I ordered a salad, not wanting the carbs from the toast. The salad was a basic dinner salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomato and my choice of dressing. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. Cute sitting room area outside of the restrooms. I love how the walls are covered with interesting pictures and art.
Lunch Came & We Dove In With No Hesitation!
My daughter ordered a chicken sandwich with grilled mushrooms and onions and barbecue sauce on the side.
I ordered the 1/2 lb USDA Prime Top Sirloin Steak with garlic toast and a baked potato.
The potato was nicely baked and the steak was amazing! Definitely one of the best steaks I have ever had!
My son ordered the Miner’s Dip with 1/3 lb thin sliced prime rib, au jus and french fries. We were stuffed but decided in celebration of Pi(e) Day we should order dessert. They didn’t have pie but they did have peach and cherry cobbler plus a few other dessert choices.
They also serve shrimp, fish, crab legs, lobster, grilled chicken and even appetizers I need to go back and try, like the stuffed mushrooms.
