5 Things To Replace In Your House: Bet They Never Crossed your Mind!
There are some things we need to replace in our house and we often don’t think about it. They are things we take for a given. Assume they are fine unless they break. But things age over time and technology changes, meaning there are some things we should replace too. I’m sure there are many more, but here are a few that come to mind. Common household items for most.
1- Smoke alarms. By this I do not mean the batteries. I’ve been guilty of not replacing them too. Remove one to change the battery (which I do twice a year, at daylight savings) and I realize they have been there a very very long time. In my room I think the smoke alarm is over 15 years old. Not kidding. So, with age means I’m not up to day on all they have to offer. First Alert has some with features mine doesn’t offer. Detecting smoke is a given. But there is more to smoke detectors now-a-days. They can now detect fire and carbon monoxide and some even have digital displays. I love the ATOM one that is super small too.
2- Replace the filter on your refrigerator. This is something I seriously forget about. Last time I replaced it was a few years ago (opps). You can order them for all sorts of fridges and models from Untapped. You can get filters up to 60% OFF retail price and have them schedule to ship too.
3- If you don’t have the choice of replacing a filter on your fridge (not all fridges have built in water available) then change the way you drink water! If you are buying bottled water or filling up 5-gallon bottles at the store than you’ll love this instead. Check out ZeroWater. Put it in the fridge or on your counter top. Fill with water and let it filter your tap water into drinking water. Includes a meter to test water quality. These make great Christmas gifts too.
4- Get this as an awesome 2-in-1. You can use it to charge your cell phone, tablet, iPad. Great for day trips, amusement parks, day at the beach, etc. BUT it can do something even bigger… it can jump start your car! You can jump start your car, truck, boats, even an ATV. This is serious power it is packing inside. It even has spark-proof cables. It is 6,600 mAh of total power! I love how small it is too. Fit it in your emergency car pack or glovebox. Made by MyCharge and available at Best Buy.
5- If you are like me, you are frugal and like to buy hand soap by the gallon and refill your containers. Well, what about tossing those things covered with germs and replace them with Live Clean liquid hand soap. I have soap in three places in my house. Both bathrooms and the kitchen. Replacing the whole bottle with a brand new one is neccessary once in a while. Live Clean is 98% plant based ingredients and eco-friendly. It comes in three scents: Coconut Milk, Fresh Water and Argan Oil at Target and Amazon.
6- Change the whole way you turn on and off your Christmas lights without climbing under the tree. Plug everything in and add the plug to the TreeMote receiver. Then to turn on/off your lights you can use the transmitter (and it is cute and shaped like a Christmas tree). You can even use it other times of the year for hard to reach plugs.
If anyone has another great one that should be replaced let me know to add to the list!
